Welcome to the opening of the 2022 FIHRM conference! Join us at the historic eighteenth century Eidsvoll House to take part in the opening ceremony and to hear excellent conference keynotes. A special panel discussion led by National Museums Liverpool concludes this first of three exciting conference days.

13.00–13.45 Opening session

Welcoming addresses. With Lonnie G. Bunch III, secretary of Smithsonian Institution, Guillermo Whpei, president FIHRM, David Fleming, founder and vice president FIHRM, and the Norwegian organizers by Torleif R. Hamre, Eidsvoll 1814 / Demokratinettverket.

13.45–14.30 Break. Optional guided mini-tour in the Eidsvoll House with an introduction by Bård Frydenlund, director Eidsvoll 1814.

14.30–15.45 Plenary session 1: «Answering the challenges", Conference keynotes

  • "Museums under pressure: An overview of complex interrelations", Kathrin Pabst, chair IC Ethics and senior curator Vest-Agder Museum
  • "Refusing to look away", Jette Sandahl, chair of trustees European Museum Forum

16.00–16.45 Plenary 2: “Co-production – equity, power and politics”

Panel discussion with National Museums Liverpool and University of Leicester. With: Laura Pye, Director National Museums Liverpool (NML), Janet Dugdale, Executive Director Museums and Participation, NML (moderator), Ranmalie Jayawardana, Community and Participation Lead, NML & Dr Ceciel Brouwer, Research Associate, Research Centre for Museums and Galleries, University of Leicester.

19.00–20.30 Evening reception at Oslo City Hall

With Deputy Mayor of Oslo, Abdullah Alsabeehg.
